2013 BMW i8 Hybrid Concept


After BMW reportedly designing incentive electric-powered cars and plug ins that are named after the sub brand ‘i’, now BMW has officially revealed about the car.
Both are BMW I3 using stun pure power, and BMW I8 plug-in hybrid vehicles, namely cars powered combination of conventional engine and electric motor. BMW  I3 and BMW I8 will be produced at BMW’s plant located in Leipzig, eastern Germany.
One of the interesting things observed, it turns out BMW in cooperation with Audi AG – Another German luxury car manufacturer – to work on the source of electrical power for the BMW I3. Electric motors and batteries are the exact same car with Audi E-tron, namely the Audi R8 is electrically powered and will appear in the market by 2012.
For BMW the presence of two models – electric and hybrid – it is a reaffirmation of their pioneering work as the most innovative manufacturers of luxury cars in creating environmentally friendly and sustainable.
“BMW ‘i’ it represents a new action in the mobility premium,” I’m Ian Robertson, BMW’s sales and marketing boss.
BMW  I3 previously called by the name of BMW Megacity. This car will be a car town (city car), the first BMW to use electric power. The BMW I8 developed because of theBMW Vision EfficientDynamics.
These cars use hybrid technology. Although the source of power from conventional engines and electric motors, but BMW’s claim to have the high performance.
Other interesting things from the two cars are an unique architectural concept construction. BMW calls the concept DriveLife concept, namely the use of aluminum chassis and carbon fiber body of material recycled plastic or carbon fiber reinforce plastic (CFRP). Resulting in a light weight but strong chassis.

Instead of debuting the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet at the 2011 LA Auto Show, Porsche is unveiling it on the Internet for the world to see. In addition, Porsche is releasing pricing for this sports car along with the “S” version available as well, which will be more powerful and with a higher price tag.
With the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, Porsche brought some design changes, including new tail lights and a more streamline body work. Otherwise, the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is very much similar to the 2011 model.
Starting with the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet base model, it is equipped with a new 3.4 liter six-cylinder engine producing 350 horsepower. The new boxer engine is mated to Porsche’s PDK 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. With a few additional ponies and a performance transmission, the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet can sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds with a top speed reaching 177 mph.
And if the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is not fast enough for you, there is the S version. The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet is equipped with a more powerful 3.8-liter boxer engine producing 400 horsepower, which allows the “S” model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 187 mph.
Both the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet and the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet will go on sales in the United States in spring 2012. Pricing for the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet starts at $97,300 while the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet starts at $108,000.

2012 BMW M3 Review

Based on the 1986 model year E30 3-Series, the first M3 was introduced with a 2.3 L I4 S14B23 engine (also known as S14). The engine design was based on various BMW parts: basic block layout from the M10 4 cylinder (found in the 2002 and 320 series) overbored and reinforced to similar specifications of the BMW M88 inline-6. The valve train and head architecture from BMW’s M1 and, later, M6 inline-6 cylinder was adopted for aggressive breathing.
In contrast to later M3 iterations, the E30 M3 was campaigned by BMW as well as other racing teams including Prodrive and AC Schnitzer competing in many forms of racing including rally as well as German, British, Italian, Belgian, French, and Australian touring. The production of the E30 road car was to homologate the M3 for Group A Touring Car racing. It was to compete with the “2.3-16V”-model of the Mercedes-Benz W201 190E that was introduced in 1983. In its final years of competition, the 2.5 liter S14 engine in full race trim was capable of over 250 hp (190 kW) naturally aspirated.

The E30 M3 differed from the rest of the E30 line-up in many ways. The M3, although using the same basic unit-body shell as the standard E30, was equipped with 12 different and unique body panels for the purposes of improving aerodynamics, as well as “box flared” wheel-arches in the front and rear to accommodate a wider track with wider and taller wheels and tires. The only exterior body panels the standard model 3-series and the M3 shared were the hood, roof panel, and sunroof.

Mizuno Nissan chief engineer Katzutoshi world promised that the first 480-horsepower, 430-pound-feet-of-torque twin-turbocharged Nissan GT-R is just the beginning, and that three years down the road, things will get even more Interesting (In 2007 ago). Three years and above seven different iterations roadgoing then Mizuno-san has lived up to its promise.
And finally the first major update to what is largely regarded as one of the Japanese supercar’s most technically advanced domestic arrived at the dealership. Not only more powerful with 530 horsepower available at 6400 rpm and 448 pounds-feet of torque comes at 5,200 rpm (the result of raising the turbo boost pressure to 13 psi from 11 psi, revised valve timing, air mixture ratio, less restrictive air intake, exhaust , and catalytic converter), but thanks to a litany of more refined suspension, driveline, and exterior repairs.

Currently the latest 2012 GT-R arrived in America for the media to poke, prod, and drive forward on-sale date was February. Of course, we were there for all the action. And so did Mizuno-san, his dedicated team of skilled technicians, and engineers from Dunlop trio, now the sole tire supplier of high performance cars. A few miles inland of Morro Bay, California, the GT-R happily showed us its newfound cornering skills. From 2007 to 2011, the hefty supercar was prone to plowing throughout a corner, regardless of size or shape. Nowadays, the GT-R jinks and jukes with the sprightliness and eagerness of a car half its size. With a thicker, more generous mid-range torque curve, it thrusts from corners faster than any prior U.S.-spec editions. Steering feel remains weighty, though now it is vastly more communicative and highly reactive to the slightest of inputs.
Throw all three in-dash driving mode switches (controlling differential, dampers, and VDC settings) into R Mode and the dampers stiffen substantially, while the gearbox knocks off gears at 0.15-second intervals (0.3 second in normal). This GT-R feels like something you would expect as a new model generation, not simply an updated version.

In town, the GT-R cruised calmly with less lurching and transmission chatter. You no longer need to shout at your passenger in cabin noise has been cut considerably, thanks to new insulation. Carbon fiber panels replace some of the reconfigured dash’s plastics. New climate control and stereo knobs, as well as darker metal-look trim pieces, complement the revised leather stitching. We experienced some of Godzilla’s all-out performance on Buttonwillow’s west track, and only tasted a bit of the claimed 197-mph top speed. Quite simply, the latest GT-R put the outgoing model (our 2009 Car of the Year, by the way) to shame. At each bend, the GT-R stuck hard and transitioned its weight as if it were an NFL running back. Its monstrous Brembo reins eliminated speed without fade, and its insatiable desire to run as fast as it can never grew old.

But what was most interesting during our time at the track was the return of launch control, or as Nissan likes to call it, “R Mode Start Function,” which Mizuno-san’s test driver demonstrated. Activating the mode is simple. First, hold all three driving mode switches in the R position for two seconds. Then, while completely stopped, depress and hold the brake, and floor the gas. Wait until the revs mount to 4000 rpm (up from 3200-3300 rpm in 2011), let go of the brake, and prepare to be Godzilla’d.

The Nismo test driver consistently recorded 2.7 and 2.8 second 0-60 mph sprints on cold pavement in dry, high 40-degree weather that’s nearly a second quicker than last year’s model. After four consecutive runs, the R Mode Start Function automatically deactivates to reduce wear, and only reinstates after 1.5 miles of driving. The changes Mizuno-san and Co. have implemented in three years’ time not only refine Japan’s most highly regarded supercar, but redefine once again what a sub-$100,000 car is capable of. But of course, we can only know for sure what the 2012 GT-R’s actual limits are once we have one in our fleet. Consider this tale “To be Continued.”
